According to the Remanufacturing Industries Council, remanufacturing is a comprehensive and rigorous industrial process by which a previously sold, worn, or non-functional product or component is returned to a “like-new” or “better-than-new” condition and warranted in performance level and quality. Remanufacturing is not the same as “recycling” or “repairing”.
Alotech was founded in 1991 to remanufacture residential power meter housings for ABB. While it has since diversified into additional market segments, Alotech remains a key player in the remanufacturing industry. As the largest clutch remanufacturer in North America, Alotech processes between 1,500 and 2,000 clutches per week. Our work includes dismantling and sorting, segregating, blasting and cleaning, machining, balancing, and recycling and returning components for the customer’s remanufactured assembly line.
In 2005, the largest manufacturer of heavy truck clutches in North America transferred its remanufacturing work to Alotech. This customer has benefited by an increase in profit margins and a reduction in defective parts. Alotech has also achieved five-sigma quality delivery.
This contract is ongoing, and Alotech has been able to apply its broad capabilities in areas of mechanical design, reverse engineering, PLC controls & automation, and logistics to refine the remanufacturing process. This has resulted in increased yield from cores, further adding to the customers
